Candle/Tea Light Holder Cover…Free Crochet Pattern..

As the day has started becoming darker early, we might need a lot of beautiful candles around us. I just love candle light and that too with a beautiful pattern. I mean, obviously, the candle holder which creates a beautiful shadow-light pattern around and is magnificent in its own way. I love to reuse things and of course DIY which is my favorite thing. Here, I have used empty jam bottle and baby food glass jar, which you can up-cycle in this way and decorate any corner of your house with these beautiful and romantic candle holders.

Here, I’m providing this pattern in two sizes just for the lovely beginners. I’m sure you will find the pattern easy. If not, feel free to ask. I will be happy to help. And those who have a good hand on crochet, can modify the pattern by adding and decreasing the number of dc in the ROW 2 and number of rows accordingly. You can also replace dc by sc, hdc, or tr while doing the base. By doing so, the size will automatically vary. So choose according to your jar size. Here you go….

Candle/Tea Light Holder Cover PATTERN:

ROW 4: Ch 3(counts as a dc), 1 dc in the same st, *1 dc in the next st, 2 dc in the  next st*. Repeat until last st. (You will get 2dc, 1dc, 2dc, 1dc…. like that). Join with sl st. Total 30 dc {36 dc}.

ROW 5: Ch 3(counts as a dc), 1 dc in the same st, *1 dc in the next 2 st, 2 dc in the  next st*. Repeat until last st. (You will get 2dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc, 1dc…. like that). Join with sl st. Total 40 dc {48 dc}.

The base is done. Now you are starting the body of the cover.

TIP: I have done a little variation on the top i.e. at the neck of the orange jar cover. I have added 2 more rows like this here…

Ch 6(ch 3 as dc, ch 3 as sp), *skip 2 ch, dc in 3rd ch, ch 3* Repeat from *to* till the end. Join with sl st.

Ch 1, sc all over join with sl st.

I have done the edging by making ch 4 and 3 tr in one st. Check out my tutorial on How to do crochet edging..  And it’s all done!

Now, let your jar wear the cover

A tiny candle, with an unknown shiver,

the warm tea with the light you pour,

enjoy the mystical tea light hour…

(…the poetic bug is still there in my head.. lol..!! An Autumn magic…what else!)

So, with this beautiful pattern, you can beautify each an every jar found in your kitchen into the magnificent tea lights and vases… What a lovely (and actually a pocket friendly) idea to use as a gift!! It can be pre-made in bulk and that too in various sizes and lovely colors… Ideal as gifts for Christmas, Easter, baby shower, in fact any occasion. Just add some beautiful laces here and there( mostly at the bottle neck)and they can be used for wedding and party table decorations. You can name tag them and reserve the tables for your special guests. As it can be used not only as a candle holder but also as a flower vase, which looks elegant enough to enhance the beauty of your tea table or any other place including the window sills.

Well then, start eating more jams!! 😉
