POPPY FLOWER … How to make Poppy Flower Brooch… Free Crochet Tutorial

Hello Friends,

‘The Remembrance Day’ is celebrated on November 11th. My humble condolence to all the brave soldiers. I just couldn’t stop making these cute little flowers. I hope this tutorial is helpful to all those who want to make these on their own.

Step by step Tutorial:

I’m using 2.5 mm hook and red acrylic yarn from women’s institute. Green felt for leaves, you can use dark green or any other green that you get. I got light color so I used it. And red or maroon felt for the back cover. Small black buttons, black, red and green threads, tapestry needle.

  • Ch – chain

One petal is done. Similarly make 3 more petals to form a complete flower. Fasten off.

Sew the black button in the center.

Now for leaves, cut the leaves using the green felt. Using the green thread sew the leaves with blanket stitch.

Poppy 10

Sew the leaves to the flower using red thread.

Poppy 11

Cut a circle out of the red/maroon felt and sew it to the backside of the flower. As shown in the picture.

You can sew brooch pin to it or just use a safety pin and it’s ready to wear it on your coat.

I tried same pattern with 3 different hook sizes (2.5mm, 3.5mm, 4mm). I’ve got 3 flowers with 3 different sizes. Take a look.

Isn’t it cool. I just love them. My lil one loved it too. She wore it on her uniform to the school. I hope this is a bit helpful (I know it’s late to share this post, I mean I could have done this earlier… but.. it’s never late for trying and learning something new).

Salute to all the Soldiers.
